Regular Flights

Matinicus is 14 nautical miles south of Knox County Regional Airport (RKD). Travel time is 10 minutes by air, and 2 hours by ferry service.

We schedule two daily mail flights, Monday through Friday, at approximately 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The fare is $48 per person, with seat availability a function of mail volume. Usually, three seats are available each way, with the flights returning to RKD leaving Matinicus around 9:15 a.m. and 1:45 p.m.

Vinalhaven and North Haven are about 12 nautical miles from RKD, which is ten minutes by air, and 1-1/4 hours by ferry service.

There are two daily mail flights, Monday through Friday, typically at 7 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. The fare is $48 per person, with seat availability a function of mail volume. Usually, one or two seats are available on the morning mail flights departing RKD for the islands, and two or three seats available on the return flights to RKD, typically at 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Saturday mail flights depart for North Haven and Vinalhaven at 7 a.m. and 12 p.m., returning from the islands at approximately 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively.

For either trip, non-mail flights are scheduled as requested based on aircraft availability. The fare is $88 for one person, and $48/person for a shared flight.
